Description
2 day training that addresses the real-world ethical challenges faced by recovery coaches and peer-based support professionals. This CCAR Training ethics course equips participants with practical skills, a clear ethical framework, and the confidence to navigate complex situations with professionalism and care.
Ethical considerations provide the foundation for building trust, maintaining integrity, and ensuring safety for both coaches and those they serve. Built upon the Ethical Guidelines for the Delivery of Peer-based Recovery Support Services, developed by William White and PRO-ACT (2007), and is designed to translate theory into practice.
Throughout the training, participants explore how to maintain healthy boundaries, recognize ethical warning signs, and make sound decisions in emotionally complex environments. Transitioning from good intentions to ethical action requires knowledge, structure, and continued learning—which this CCAR Training ethics course provides.
Objectives
Clarifying the Role of a Recovery Coach: You’ll learn the scope and responsibilities of a recovery coach and how to clearly define your role in support relationships. Ethical Decision-Making Tools: Gain hands-on tools to analyze, assess, and respond to ethical dilemmas using structured decision-making processes. Understanding Vulnerability and Boundaries: Discover how to navigate client vulnerabilities and manage your own boundaries to prevent ethical missteps. Legal and Confidentiality Considerations: Understand how ethical behavior intersects with legal requirements, confidentiality, and professional conduct. Applied Learning: Practice what you learn through real-world scenarios, role-playing exercises, and group discussions, all integrated into the CCAR Training ethics course curriculum.
